Origin of the Testaments.  The first person mentioned in the Bible writing anything is Moses, who lived about 1500 B.C. There are six distinct things attributed to his writing:

1. The memorial concerning Amalek (Exodus 17:14)
2. The words of the covenant made at Sinai (Exodus 24:4)
3. The Ten Commandments (Exodus 34:27,28)
4. The journey of the children of Israel in the wilderness (Numbers 33:2)
5. The Book of the Law which was to be kept with the Ark of the Covenant (Deuteronomy 31:9,24)
6. The Song found in Deuteronomy 32:43 (Deuteronomy 31:22)

Additionally, Moses is considered by Jewish tradition to have been the author of the first five books of the Bible, known as the Pentateuch (from "penta" meaning 5). Other writers give support to this view, as does the Lord himself. (See Joshua 8:31, Malachi 4:4, Luke 24:44, John 7:19).
